ROKU Presents OTA Hybrid 4K HDR Streaming Player and Telco Operators Around the World

An American company that manufactures home digital media products ROKU  announced the launch of its first 4K UHD HDR capable hybrid OTA streaming device for ROKU Powered partners.

Telstra is the first ROKU Powered licensee to launch the new 4K HDR hybrid streaming player for its Telstra TV service later this month. This new streaming device offers its customers the greatest of live TV, catch-up and on-demand entertainment by incorporating a terrestrial tuner in the 4K HDR streaming player.

The goal of the ROKU Powered licensing department is to assist operators grow their market and reduce customer churn. Operators leverage the ROKU streaming platform including the ROKU OS, ROKU Channel Store to distribute live TV and on-demand services to their audiences.

ROKU  provides continuing software updates to the ROKU OS, hosts the app store, and provides application development support and certification services.

As of 2017, the ROKU Powered program allows operators to distribute streaming services to customers in Australia, Austria, Germany, Italy, Philippines, Republic of Oreland, Span, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

Andrew Ferrone, Vice President of pay TV at ROKU said, “Our new 4K HDR hybrid streaming player is ideal for countries where over the air TV is available. It really brings together entertainment sources in a clever way, so consumers can watch live and on demand entertainment with one single remote control.”
