Blackberry and Qualcomm Extend Collaboration to Deliver Automotive Platforms for Future Generations Vehicles

BlackBerry BB  and a telecommunications equipment company specializing in wireless products and services, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. QCOM , extend their strategic agreement to design and manufacture cutting-edge automotive platforms for the future generation of vehicles. They have agreed to use Qualcomm’s QCOM  hardware platforms with BlackBerry’s BB  QNX software and utilize it in future vehicles.

Both technologies combined could be optimal in virtual cockpit controllers (VCC), Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) technology, electronically controlled gates and digital instruments. Qualcomm’s hardware department and BlackBerry’s software department will be working exclusively to achieve this task.

They have pledged an obligation to offer high performing automotive platforms rapidly and cost-effectively and both companies have the resources and manpower to complete the task on hand.

President of BlackBerry BB  said, “BlackBerry and Qualcomm Technologies have had a long-standing relationship for over a decade, collaborating on technologies that have revolutionized the way people live and work. Today’s announcement elevates our relationship as we aim to accelerate the delivery of the next generation platforms that connected vehicles will rely upon.”

The Senior Vice President of Qualcomm Technologies QCOM  also said they were extremely pleased with the progress their relationship with BlackBerry has elevated to. The innovation in the automotive industry is growing faster than most companies can handle and if they can get the edge of competition, they have a huge chance to separate themselves from the rest.

Patrick Little, Senior VP of Qualcomm QCOM  added, “It becomes necessary for industry leaders to work together to deliver leading-edge technology platforms that help to make vehicles safer, more connected, and increasingly autonomous.”
