Rockwell Automation Acquires Odos Imaging to Leverage 3-D Time-of-Flight Technology for Sensing and Safety Applications

Rockwell Automation, Inc. ROK  recently acquired Scottish-based technology company Odos Imaging, and this new acquisition will provide ROK with the opportunity to build on their portfolio of smart sensing and safety products. These products will be for The Connected Enterprise and will be incorporated into Odos’ three-dimensional, time-of-flight sensing systems for industrial imaging applications. Rockwell Automation will utilize this new technology to sense products to deliver demanding industrial applications ranging from automotive and general assembly to packing and material handling to logistics.



“This acquisition enables us to build on our portfolio of smart sensing and safety products, an important part of the foundation for The Connected Enterprise,” said Lee Lane, Rockwell Automation vice president and general manager, safety, sensing and connectivity business. “It enables us to expand our existing capabilities by bringing 3-D time-of-flight sensor technology to industrial applications.” Odos was founded in 2010, and they develop 3-D imaging technologies that offer customers solutions that increase awareness both in and around manufacturing systems.
